A Great Time had by All!

This past weekend I traveled to Fayetteville, NC to help my brother celebrate his 29th birthday. I can NOT remember the last time I had so much fun. The night was filled with family, great beer, great food (courtesy of Blue Moon Cafe), cupcakes, a blow up doll and lots of new friends.

The next day at lunch, all of us laughed so hard recalling the stories from the night before. You know you've had a great time when your head hurts from drinking too much, your stomache is full and your sides hurt from laughing.

Today the Under Armour Senior Bowl takes place in Mobile. It's such a fun time to run into people you haven't seen in awhile and also get to see your favorite college players show their talents one last time before heading to the NFL. I'm so sad I won't be able to make it to the game this year. I always have a blast!

This past Friday my alma mater, BC Rain, retired the #73 jersey in honor of Rodney Hudson. Rodney has played Offensive Guard at FSU since 2007 and is the 2010 ACC Jacobs Blocking Trophy Award winner. January 28th was also declared "Rodney Hudson Day" in the city of Mobile. I'm so proud to be called a Red Raider. Way to go Rodney!!

Martha, you have my heart

I absolutely LOVE Martha Stewart. I know, but I can't help it. I DVR her show everyday. Great recipes, crafts and fun facts about plants that I'll never use because I have a black thumb.

So I was perusing her site and I came across these great little V-day envelopes. Gifts cards and gift certificates are great gifts but they can feel so impersonal. What a great way to give those cards and certificates a little flair. Time to break out the hot glue gun!

Cupcake Heaven

So last night I had a wild hair and decided to try a recipe I found on Life is Better with Cake. French toast cupcakes with maple buttercream icing and bacon. My mouth was watering when I first came across this little jewel. It's like a huge breakfast in a bite sized package. DELICIOUS!

This recipe was fantastic. It's totally from scratch and not hard at all. I found all the ingredients at my local Wal-mart and from start to finish it took me about 2 hours. I paired the cupcakes with a nice cold glass of Abita Save our Shores (SOS). YUM-O!

Bippity, Boppity, BACON!

Aaahh...sweet, sweet bacon. I love the sound of you frying up in my pan. I love the crunchy noise you make when I eat you.  I love you, bacon.

Over the past couple of years I've noticed that I'm not alone in my love of bacon. I was in a parking lot recently and I saw this hilarious magnet on a car.

This made me think of Jim Gaffigan's bacon rant. He does this hilarious bit about how awesome bacon is. It's like he knows my inner most thoughts, like he can read my mind!

While visiting Jim's website, I came across this little jewel, Bakon Vodka. I mean seriously?! Genius. Even the bacon-y cirlce logo makes my mouth water. They have some delicious looking receipes on their site including a bloody mary and a bacon chocolate martini. I'm not a huge Bloody Mary fan but I can't wait to try the Bakon Mary. Sounds sooo good!

That naturally got my mind churning. What other delicious things can I make with bacon? So I've been scouring the internet for delicious little bacon nuggets. I found an incredible recipe for french toast and bacon cupcakes. I've purchased all the ingredients and I'm baking these sweet puppies up tonight. Stay tuned.
